The Director of Clinical Quality Improvement is responsible for designing, implementing and overseeing all aspects of the quality improvement and patient safety programs within the facility. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Clinical Quality Improvement will work collaboratively with hospital senior leadership and market/regional and home office leaders to align resources to meet priorities and goals. The Director will be responsible for the development of an integrated approach to quality and patient safety across the organization including all facets of Quality Management, Risk Management, Medical Staff Quality, Performance Improvement, Infection Prevention, and Patient Safety. The Director will serve as an expert resource within the facility related to clinical quality, patient safety, regulatory and quality improvement issues, and activities related to accreditation. Acts as Department administrator. Establishes and enforces policies, procedures, standards and objectives. Directs and supervises staff as well as workflow. Position has budgetary or fiscal accountability. Responsible 24 hours a day for the ongoing effective operation of the Department exerting a leadership role which supports the organization’s mission and values, goals and objectives, while focusing on the patients, physicians, employees, volunteers and the community as customers. Ongoing accountability for the continuous assessment, improvement, coordination and integration of the department services and standards of care into the hospital’s primary function. Position is responsible for approving timekeeping, employee evaluation, meeting applicable regulatory standards, approving supply orders and department strategic planning.
- Must be a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in patient care related field
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Director role in Clinical Quality Improvement
- Must be currently licensed, certified or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy.
- CPHQ or eligible to take exam within two (2) years of employment.
- Experience with The Joint Commission standards
