The Pathologist Department consists of 8 pathologists who have certifications and expertise in multiple disciplines. The department primarily supports a regional 750+ bed tertiary care center as well as an outpatient surgery center, a rehabilitation hospital and associated physician offices. The clinical laboratory employees over 300 technologists, technicians and support personnel and performs four (4) million tests per year.  The annual volume of surgical pathology cases is over 34,000 with 5600 non-GYN cytology cases, 1355 FNAs, 241 bone marrow biopsies and 26 autopsies.  In summary, the practice is busy and has a wealth of interesting and challenging cases.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess an MD/D.O. degree, be board certified in both anatomic and clinical pathology and have three (3) years’ experience in a hospital setting
  • Pennsylvania Medical license (or able to obtain)
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have fellowship training and ABP sub-specialty certification
  • Expertise and additional training in breast pathology are also desirable
  • Able to handle 20+ cases a day
  • Must be comfortable with all aspects of professional communication as the department supports a large number of multidisciplinary conferences
